Help Stop Global Warming. Protect our forests. For now, and for the generations after us.

RURAL INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY (RIDS)                                               Profile

Rural Integrated Development Society (RIDS) is working with rural communities since 1997 on Watershed Development, Non pesticide crop management, Natural Resources Management, Traditional Diversion based irrigation systems, Sustainable Ground water management and Andhra Pradesh Drought Mitigation Project (APDMP). RIDS has good experience and ability to mobilize community through participatory approach process and it is sensitive to needs of the vulnerable section of the society living in the watersheds.

RIDS has worked for 5 WDF NABARAD watersheds and 1 IWMP project. In support of Sustainable development of agriculture at present we are implementing KfW Soil Project (2) and 3 SDPs in same villages where WDF projects undertaken. Under these projects treatment has done in 10484 ha- benefitting with 4118 no farmers in 17 villages. In PALLE JEEVAM Project we are working in Garladinne and Singanamala, Peddapappuru Mandals 18 Villages of 9 GPs covering 4679 no farmers with an extent of 6836 ha. Which has cultivating of Millets, Groundnut, Red gram, Vegetable and Horticulture crops. There is lot of potential for promotion of FPO in commodities like...Sweet Orange, Vegetables, Groundnut and Millets. Farmers are mostly depending on middle persons for selling their products due to this they are getting very low prices for their products because there is no marketing facility at nearby places. If they want to sell their products directly they have to go Bellary & Kurnool Markets. In all our working areas the project operations are being carried out in transparent manner involving the community at all levels. The records are maintained at VWC level and are available to community at all times. RIDS has committed, qualified and experienced staff for implementing the watershed projects.

RIDS has formed and registered 14 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPO) under MACS Act for implementing projects at village level.

RIDS has good experience in handling Climate Change Resilient projects, like Revitalizing Rainfed Agriculture, Navadhanya Cropping system, Groundwater sharing project, NABARD Soils Project, Comprehensive Revival of Millets Programme (CRMP) and Community Managed Seed System (CMSS).
